Kudos to Killswitch Engage for scoring their very first platinum album for As the daylight dies, as certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
This is only the second time that metalcore icons have achieved platinum certification from the RIAA, the first being for the single “My Curse”, which coincidentally is from As the daylight dies, the 2006 follow-up to the group’s revolutionary record, The end of sorrow.
As the daylight dies, Killswitch’s fourth studio album, reached No.32 on the Display panel 200 upon its initial release and was certified gold by the RIAA on June 30, 2009. The inclusion of “My Curse” in the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock video game and downloadable content in Rock band and Rock group 2 certainly helped give it a boost as popular game franchises have been a stronghold for heavy music in the 21st century, especially for metal that is ingrained or bordering on extreme by opening up a huge opportunity for exhibition for artists.

Meanwhile, the band is still promoting their latest album, 2019’s Atonement, with a North American tour headlining with special guests August Burns Red and Light the Torch, which kicks off at the end of January. See all upcoming stops here.
